Midfielder scores before hurting right ankle. No serious damage done as X-rays show no fractures

ENSCHEDE - Inter's Wesley Sneijder was forced off with a right ankle injury in the 78th minute of Holland's international friendly against Japan. The midfielder underwent X-rays (which were subsequently sent to Inter's medical staff) and the good news is that he has done no serious damage.

The player will remain with the Dutch national team until Monday to undergo further tests, after which his national team's medical staff will decide whether he is be fit to play next Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Scotland.

Sneijder scored either side of goals from Van Persie and Huntelaar as Holland beat Japan 3-0.
