MILAN - Inter Primavera captain Luca Caldirola will spend the 2010/11 season at Dutch outfit SBV Vitesse. The one-season loan deal has already been reached and the 19-year-old defender has been officially presented to his new fans as 'one of the best European talents in his role and of his age'.
Born in Desio on 1 February 1991, Caldirola started playing football at the age of just four. After four seasons with Base 96 he joined Inter's Pulcini team. He has played for all of the Nerazzurri's youth teams, winning national titles with the Under-15 side in 2006 and the Under-17 side in 2008, and a Viareggio Cup with our Under-19s in 2008.
Caldirola joined the first team in the 2008 pre-season for the Pirelli Trophy friendly against Bayern Munich and the LG Amsterdam Tournament. After making his debut in a Tim Trophy friendly against AC Milan in Pescara on 14 August 2009, he was named in Inter's B List for the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League.
Often drafted into José Mourinho's squad for first-team training sessions and friendlies, Caldirola captained Fulvio Pea's Inter Primavera side last season, scoring two goals. Currently an Italy Under-19 international, he has represented the Azzurri at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level.
