PRIMAVERA: A STRUGGLED WIN AGAINST PORTOGRUARO

Behind after the first 45', the Nerazzurri turn the game around in the second half

MILAN - With Biraghi, Natalino and Crisetig working with the senior team, Faraoni and Thiam injured, Fulvio Pea introduced a new-look Inter. Against the bottom side of the table, which has collected only 1 point from 11 games, the Nerazzurri struggled and ended the first half behind by 1 goal to 0. In the second half a goal from Dell'Agnello equalised, and a double from Alibec sealed the final 3-1 in favour of the Nerazzurri.

FIRST HALF - After less than 2' of play, Denis Alibec's effort from the centre of the box went over the crossbar. The Nerazzurri were commanding the game, but it was Portogruaro that took the lead on 12' with Bianchi. Brichese received the ball from Bottoni and stretched the play on the right flank before dispatching a good cross. After some touches the ball was still alive in the box and from the edge of the six yard box Bianchi, with a sure strike, got his first goal of the season. A few minutes later, in the 18', a Simone Dell'Agnello goal was disallowed for offside. Bianchi's goal was just what the game needed to come alive, with Inter providing an immediate response by pushing forwards. On 25' Bessa with the ball linked up with Romano on the edge of the box, the return pass was perfect for the Italian-Brazilian who shot from the middle of the box, but Bavena responded with an excellent save. On 29' Jirasek shot from distance, with the ball almost ending in the top corner. Portogruaro defended with almost their entire team behind the ball, only Cicuto was left up front. On 35' Alibec turned and shot but his effort was blocked by the defensive wall. And on 44' Andrea Romano's effort was again dealt with by Bavena. Inter tried to unhinge the opposition defence by stretching the play out onto the right flank, where Bessa and Lussardi provided real problems for the Venetian back-line. After a single minute of injury time the first half ended.

SECOND HALF - With no changes in either side, the second half kicked-off. On 48' Bessa tried from a free kick. His curling shot however was just wide to Bavena's left. On 53' Dell'Agnello with a diving header netted the equalising goal. The ball came from Daniel Bessa who, from a free-kick, picked out the Nerazzurri striker perfectly. This was Simone's ninth goal of the season, in the league and the TIM Cup. After the equaliser Inter increased the rhythm of the game and forced Portogruaro to retreat entirely in its own third. On 63' Jirasek forcefully recovered a ball in the midfield and with a vertical ball served Dell'Agnello, who controlled it stylishley and lost his marker to take the shot, powerful, but straight to the goalkeeper. Bavena held onto it. Portogruaro resolved to hurling the ball forwards. On 67' Fulvio Pea introduced Longo for Bessa, shifting from the initial 4-4-3 to a more offensive 4-2-4 formation. On 75' Bavena was once again the saviour from a corner, as he pulled off an instinct save. The Nerazzurri were still dictating the pace of the game. On 83' it was the post that graced Portogruaro. Longo had ran deep and dispatched a cross from the right, searching for Alibec; having beaten Bavena the Nerazzurri striker's effort hit the woodwork. In the dying minutes though, with Inter really pushing forwards, the opposition team tried to reintroduce itself to Gallinetta's area of the pitch , with two efforts from distance which really tested the Nerazzurri goalkeeper, but he was always up to the challenge. Dell'Agnello was then floored on the edge of the box, maybe more in the box than out of it, either way the referee awarded a free-kick. Denis Alibec took charge of it and dispatched a really powerful shot, making the score 2-1. In less than one minute the Romanian turned the game around and on 89' served by Longo he doesn't miss to seal the 3-1 that gives the three points to the Nerazzurri and the final KO for the Venetian side. After just one minute of injury time the referee called n end to the game.
