MILAN - Diego Forlan is an Inter player. The final bureaucratic details have been tied up and the best player of the 2010 World Cup and Copa America 2011 winner with Uruguay has now officially joined the reigning Club World Cup champions.
Inter have signed Forlan from Club Atletico de Madrid on a two-year contract.
Born into a footballing family in Montevideo on 19 May 1979, the UNICEF ambassador grew up in Danubio and went on to score goals all over the world: Independiente, 37; Manchester United, 13; Villarreal, 58; Atletico Madrid, 90; La Celeste, 31; 1 at the 2002 World Cup and 5 at the 2010 World Cup, where he helped carry Uruguay to fourth place; 2010 Adidas Golden Ball winner; twice Pichichi (top scorer) of La Liga; two times UEFA Golden Shoe winner; bronze (2004) and gold (2011) Copa America medals; 1 Premier League title; 1 FA Cup; 1 Europa League; 1 European Super Cup.
The numbers - and these are only some of them - outline the career of a world-class footballer and now, as a Nerazzurri player, he is ready to add yet more numbers to the story.
Welcome to Inter, Diego!
