FRIENDLY, INTER 2-1 CHIASSO: TEST PASSED

Milito's goal is followed by one from Castaignos. An own-goal cuts the lead in the 89th minute

APPIANO GENTILE – While waiting for the Cagliari match, Inter defeated Chiasso. The final result for Claudio Ranieri's team was 2-1 against the Swiss team in the friendly match played this afternoon at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti in Appiano Gentile.

FIRST HALF - In addition to Ze Maria, who was present in Appiano for part for a coaching internship, Mrs. Bedy Moratti, Gianfranco Bedin and Mario Corso also attended the match between the Nerazzurri and the team from the Swiss 2nd division (currently fourth in the standings with 22 points).

The team from Ticino took the opening kick-off and they were also the first to come close to scoring when, in the 4th minute, Graf crossed from the right for Gaspar to head the ball against the crossbar. It was also the first match for Chivu without wearing his helmet on the pitch. Milito opened the scoring when he received a through ball from Zarate; after moving wide and beating his man he managed to put the ball in the net at the far post from a sharp angle. In the 27th minute Stankovic attempted one of his signature blasts off his laces that went just wide. Eight minutes later there was a chance for Castaignos, who arrived just a fraction too late to meet Milito's low pass in front of the goalmouth. The last chance fell to Inter on minute 44 when Castaignos mistimed his leap and failed to meet Chivu's cross from the left, leaving the ball to fall safely into Capelletti's hands.

SECOND HALF – The second half began with the Swiss making four changes and Inter doing the same, which then became five after 53 minutes. Jonathan sought Inter's second goal when he went one-on-one with Noseda but the defender closed him down and gave away a corner (56). Six minutes later Stankovic unleashed a low shot from 25 yards that went wide, before then losing the ball in midfield and triggering a Swiss counterattack that ended with a shot from Graf that finished just wide of the post. Again it was Castaignos to penetrate the 6-yard box and, served by Milito, have a go with his right, only to see Noseda block the shot. A sudden attempt from Gaspar in the 79th minute saw Orlandoni diving to make a save; he failed to reach it, but luckily for him the post kept it out. A minute later the second goal of the game arrived thanks to Castaignos; after Jonathan controlled the ball and got the better of Matoshi he sent the ball to the Dutchman, whose diagonal right-footer beat Noseda at the far post to make the score 2-0. Chiasso cut Inter's lead in half in the 44th minute on a corner kick in which the ball ricocheted among the players in the box and went into the net after coming off of a Nerazzurri player.
