The Nerazzurri's first friendly in Brunico ends all square

RISCONE DI BRUNICO - A heavy-legged Inter kicked off the first of nine 2016/17 pre-season friendlies with a draw against WSG Wattens in Brunico on Saturday afternoon

A week of intensive training had clearly taken its toll on the Nerazzurri as they were unable to find the net against the Austrian second-division outfit, Mancini fielding different starting XIs in each half to get minutes in as many players as possible.

The best chance of the first half came when Mauro Icardi nicked the ball off the keeper and teed up Stevan Jovetic, but the Montenegrin was unable to bend the ball inside the far post.

In the second period, 17-year-old striker Andrea Pinamonti set up Yuto Nagatomo with a dazzling backheel, the ball again finishing wide, and Andrea Ranocchia headed against the bar from a corner.

Inter's next friendly is against CSKA Sofia on Thursday.

First half: Handanovic; Ansaldi, D'Ambrosio, Jesus, Miangue; Gnoukouri, Kondogbia; Biabiany, Jovetic, Bessa; Icardi.

Second half: Carrizo; Yao, Ranocchia, Della Giovanna, Dodo; Bakayoko, Zonta, Melo, Nagatomo; Palacio, Pinamonti.
