"I'm really happy to have signed this new contract that will keep me at the club until 2021.
"My dream is to win trophies with this team. The club have made a huge effort to strengthen the squad and the results will come through hard work.
"I heard lots of things during the transfer window, as you always do, but the club was on my side. I'm happy and I get on really well with everyone – both the people working with us in Appiano and at club headquarters.
"I have my agent and wife Wanda to thank for this renewal and we're all pleased at home. I've always been happy at Inter and never wanted to change club. We like it in Milan – it's one of the best cities in the world.
“It's a great period for me as I'm about to become a father again and I'll soon have a book coming out about my life. I'm happy away from the pitch as well.
"I have to score goals to help the team win and being captain is a huge responsibility. I worked hard to get ready for the season and now we'll start reaping the rewards. I get to wear the captain's armband on the pitch and it's an honour to do that for Inter.
"Of course every striker wants to be topscorer. As for our target as a team, it has to be to get back into the Champions League. We have to get Inter competing with the very best again. If we want to get back in the Champions League, we need to keep working as we are and do even better.
"I have a really good relationship with De Boer. We speak in Spanish too and discuss lots of different things.
"There have been lots of club icons in Italy and yes, I think I could become one at Inter in future.
"I would like to play for Argentina and it is a dream of mine, but I'm not obsessed by it."
