MILAN - As occurred in 2018, FC Internazionale Milan will once again play their part in Milan’s Design Week. Together with RM Institute for Fashion and Design, this year the club has decided to launch a Design for Sport initiative – promoting healthy discussion and debate between the club’s designers and brand partners, while also providing a challenge for some of the most talented students at secondary schools in Milan and Lombardy. Sponsored by the ADI-Association for Industrial Design, the event’s inauguration will take place on Tuesday 9 April at 18:00 CEST at No.16 Via Felice Casati in Milan.
The creative project
On the 10th and 11th April at No.16 Via Felice Casati, the young teams of creative talent will respond to Inter’s brief for an original idea: a design for the First Team’s bus ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
The winning team will receive a trophy and a special contribution from Inter aimed at improving the sporting equipment in their school.
The jury will be composed of the two CEOs from FC Internazionale Milano Alessandro Antonello and Giuseppe Marotta, Vice President Javier Zanetti, Head of Inter Forever Francesco Toldo, Captain Samir Handanovic, President of the ADI-Association for Industrial Design Luciano Galimberti and College Director of the RM Institute for Fashion and Design Pasquale Volpe.
An exhibition of the work will be launched on Saturday 13 April at 18:00 CEST at Aia Casati 16.
On the 10th, 11th and 12th April, there will be a series of conferences regarding issues related to design and the world of sport. Projection, history, innovation and research to give of a sense of meaning on how sport inspires the world of design, helping to forge the society in which we live.
Inter’s prestigious partners, such as Pirelli and Technogym, will present their methods and research results, while designers and teachers will also offer advice. Through discussing their direct experiences and studies, a complete picture will be provided of the socio-cultural influences on products and visual design in the world of sport.
“It’s a great event,” said CEO Corporate of FC Internazionale Milano Alessandro Antonello. “Capable of demonstrating once again that Inter is an iconic and expansive brand for this city. “Design Week is a great event for the city and Inter is proud to take part alongside the RM Institute for Fashion and Design – making the school on Via Casati one of the most exciting centres during this unique point in the city’s calendar. We believe in the talent of these young people, who will work to create a design for our team bus. In doing so, they will feel the passion and inspiration that stem from the Nerazzurri colours.”
Pasquale Volpe, the College Director of the RM Institute for Fashion and Design said: “It’s a unique collaboration between a design school like ours and a great Club like Inter. We appreciate the attention paid to young people and social issues, demonstrating a focus on project discipline and the individual. Design and Sport have always had one thing in common, which is at the core of design – the improvement of human life. And it’s exactly this what we teach to our students every day.”
At the end of each day at 19:30 CEST, there will be drinks and a live DJ set for those taking part. The conferences are aimed at students interested in the topics being discussed.
