Roberto Mancini faces Catania for the second time after the home victory in Week 6.

Details:

2006/07 Serie A Inter-Catania 2-1 ----

Catania's winless run

Catania are without a Serie A win since their 2-1 triumph over Empoli in Week 16 on 24 January. The Sicilians have collected 2 draws and 2 defeats since that date. If they lose against Inter, Catania will equal their five-match winless run from Weeks 2-6 (2 draws & 3 defeats).

Spinesi milestones

Thanks to his 11 goals in 24 league games this season, Gionatha Spinesi is two away from equalling Facchin's record of 13 goals for Catania in one Serie A campaign, set in 1964/65. If he plays against Inter, Spinesi will make his 300th appearance as a professional. Since his debut in Castel Sangro 1-3 Bari on 26 January 1997, Spinesi has played 64 times in Serie A, 212 in Serie B and 23 in Coppa Italia. He has played professional football for 4 clubs: Castel Sangro, Bari, Arezzo and Catania.

Edusei two hundred

Mark Edusei will make his 200th appearance for Italian club if fielded against the Nerazzurri in Cesena. The Ghanaian midfielder, whose Italian debut dates back to 2 March 1997 (Empoli 1-1 Lecce in Serie B), has played 40 times in Serie A, 145 in Serie B, 12 in Coppa Italia and 2 in other tournaments. He has played for five Italian clubs: Lecce, Cosenza, Piacenza, Torino and Catania.

Inter chasing away wins record

With 10 away victories in the 2006/07 Serie A season, Inter are one away from equalling their record of 11 away wins in one season, set in 1963/64 and equalled in 1988/89 (both 18-team tournaments).

Inter unbeaten in 30 games

Inter are unbeaten in their last 30 competitive matches, with 25 victories (including 11 wins in a row - 7 wins in Serie A, 2 in Coppa Italia & 2 in Champions League from 25 October 2006 to 2 December 2006 - a club record under the administration of Moratti) and 5 draws since their last defeat, a 2-0 home loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on 27 September 2006.

Three consecutive clean sheets

Luca Toni's 5th-minute goal in Inter 3-1 Fiorentina on 21 January was the last conceded by Mancini's side in the Serie A championship. Including the remaining 85 minutes of that game plus the matches against Sampdoria (0-2), Chievo (0-2) and Cagliari (1-0), Inter haven't let in a goal for 355 competitive minutes.

Inter's second-half form

Inter and Roma have improved their results in the second halves of Serie A matches this season to collect a total of 13 points, more than any other team.

CESENA - Five different Inter players hit the target as the table-toppers saw off Catania 5-2 in Cesena.

The Nerazzurri remain 14 points clear of second-placed Roma, who won 3-0 at home to Reggina.

Walter Samuel opened the floodgates on the stroke of half time, with Santiago Solari and Fabio Grosso increasing Inter's lead with two splendid solo goals before Ibrahimovic and Cruz cancelled out replies from Spinesi and Corona.

Inter had the lion's share of the chances behind closed doors at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi, Ibrahimovic testing Catania keeper Pantanelli in the 12th minute with a fierce low strike from 20 yards.

Julio Cesar kept out a thunderous volley from Caserta before the Nerazzurri took control.

Solari had a first-time effort blocked by Pantanelli, with Stankovic shaving the post with a 25-yard stinger.

Ibra then dragged a Stankovic through ball agonisingly wide before Samuel headed in a corner by the Serbian midfielder to give Inter a half-time lead.

Solari added to Inter's lead four minutes after the restart. The Argentine winger drifted across the face of the Catania area before sending a low left-foot shot past Pantanelli and in off the right post.

Cruz hit the underside of the crossbar from close range before Grosso made it 3-0 with a spectacular cross-shot from a tight angle that sailed over Pantanelli and into the far corner.

The Sicilians pulled one back through Spinesi in the 65th, but Ibrahimovic controlled a Solari through pass and fired home restore the three-goal lead.

Catania reduced the arrears for the second time when substitute Corona lashed a low volley under Julio Cesar, but once again, Inter's reply was swift, with Cruz chesting down a Maicon pass and slotting past Pantanelli to seal Inter's 17th consecutive Serie A victory.

Pasquale Marino's side played the final minutes with ten men after the sending-off of Spinesi for a second booking.
