Udinese haven't let in a goal in the domestic cup competition since 25 September 2002, when they were beaten 4-1 at Bari. The Apulians' last goal in that match was scored by Chukwu on 85 minutes. Since then the Bianconeri have kept a clean sheet for the last 5 minutes of that match plus the entire games against Bari in the return leg (1-0 at home), Bologna in this season's cup (1-0 away, 3-0 at home) and Inter in the quarter-final first leg (0-0), for a total of 365 minutes.

Udinese through in cup once from three 0-0 draws in first legs at home

Udinese go into a return leg of a Coppa Italia tie after a goalless draw at home in the first leg for the fourth time in the club's history. On one occasion the side from Friuli have progressed in the tournament, while they have been knocked out on the other two occasions. Udinese reached the quarter-finals in 1998/99 thanks to a 1-0 victory over Vicenza, and were eliminated by Juventus at the last 32 stage in 1991/92 (a 3-0 defeat in Turin) and by Inter in the round of 16 in 1993/94 (a 2-1 defeat at the San Siro).

Inter and 0-0 Coppa Italia first-leg draws away

For the third time, Inter go into a Coppa Italia return leg after a 0-0 draw away from home in the first leg. The Nerazzurri have progressed in the tournament on two occasions (Inter 2-0 Foggia in the round of 16 in 1992/93 and Inter 2-1 Udinese in the last 32 in 1993/94), and were knocked out in the other return match after a scoreless first leg (Inter 0- 3 AC Milan in 1992/93).

MILAN - The Nerazzurri are through to the semi-finals of the Tim Cup after a convincing 3-1 win a home to Udinese.

Dutch winger Andy van der Meyde put Inter in front after 16 minutes of play when his powerful right-footed free kick from a tight angle on the left wing went in at the far post.

Udinese were back in the game ten minutes before the break when Fava anticipated Cordoba to Alberto's curled right-wing cross then powered a header past Toldo, meaning the Nerazzurri had to score in the second half to remain in the domestic cup competition.

That they did, and Obafemi Martins restored Inter's lead six minutes into the second half. The Nigerian showed all his pace as he raced on to Helveg's through ball, made a darting fifteen-metre run then with Renard off his line coolly slotted past the Bianconeri custodian.

Second-half substitute Julio Cruz made the result safe on 62 minutes when he procured a penalty then sent his spot kick out of Renard's reach and in at the bottom right-hand corner.
