Mancini v Chievo

Nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini has won one, drawn three and lost two of his six matches against ChievoVerona. None of Mancini's three home matches against the Gialloblu have ended in draws (two Chievo wins, one Mancini victory).

In detail:

2001/02 Serie A Fiorentina-ChievoVerona 0-2 ----
2002/03 Serie A Lazio-ChievoVerona 2-3 1-1
2003/04 Serie A Lazio-ChievoVerona 1-0 0-0
2004/05 Serie A Inter-ChievoVerona ---- 2-2

Mancini v Berretta

The 2-2 draw on the opening day of the current season is the only previous meeting between Roberto Mancini and Mario Beretta.

In detail:

2004/05 Serie A Inter-ChievoVerona ---- 2-2

31-match unbeaten run

The Nerazzurri are now unbeaten in 31 matches, their last zero- pointer the 2-1 defeat at Lecce last 2 May. Since then Inter have recorded 15 victories and 16 draws in Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League matches.

Inter prolific at home

Mancini's Inter have scored at least one goal in each of their home Serie A matches since the start of the season (total 20 goals in 9 matches). The positive run started at the end of last season when the Nerazzurri beat Parma 1-0. The last time they failed to score at the Meazza was in the 0-0 draw against... Mancini's Lazio, last 25 April.

Vieri v Chievo

When Christian Vieri plays against Chievo, the Nerazzurri score. In seven Serie A matches against the Gialloblu, Inter have netted ten goals, and five of those have Vieri's name on them. Bobogol scored once at home to Chievo 2001/02, twice at the San Siro and once in Verona in 2002/03, and once at the Bentegodi last season.

Mihajlovic milestone

If fielded against Chievo, Sinisa Mihajlovic will make his 400th appearance for Italian clubs. The Serbia&Montenegro defender, who apart from Inter has played for Roma, Sampdoria and Lazio, made his debut in Roma 4-1 Taranto in the Coppa Italia on 26 August 1992. He has played 297 games in the Serie A, 42 in the Coppa Italia, 56 in European cup competitions and 4 in other tournaments.

Chievo: 1 win in 8 games

ChievoVerona have won just once in their last eight matches (the 2-1 victory over Palermo last 12 December). The Veronese side have drawn two and lost five of the other seven, letting in a total of eighteen goals. Chievo's last win without letting in a goal was the 1-0 victory at home to Atalanta last 10 November.

Poor away form

ChievoVerona have collected just one point from their last six outings. After the 2-2 draw at Parma last 14 November, the Gialloblu have been defeated in five consecutive away matches. But at the start of the 2004/05 Serie A season Chievo won seven points in their first three away games, winning twice and drawing once.

wins(12) draws(4) defeats(1)
MILAN - Inter came back from behind to draw 1-1 with Chievo at the Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday night. Obafemi Martins grabbed a late equaliser after Mandelli fired the visitors into a second-half lead.

The result sees Mancini's Inter set a new club record of twenty Serie A matches without defeat after last weekend's draw in Reggio Calabria equalled Alfredo Foni's long run of positive results in the Scudetto-winning 1952-53 season. Including all competitions, the Nerazzurri are now unbeaten in thirty-two games.

A low-key first half saw both sides hit the woodwork, Tiribocchi's shot on the turn coming off the crossbar early on before Recoba rattled the post with a trademark free kick in added time.

Inter continued to press hard for an opener after the restart and Christian Vieri had a goal ruled out for offside on 58 minutes, but, constantly dangerous on the counter-attack, the Gialloblu took the lead on 73 minutes when Mandelli found the net with a first-time shot from a Baronio corner. Obafemi Martins levelled seven minutes from time, getting on the end of Recoba's cross-shot then creating a yard of space before slotting into an open goal.

Chievo could have won it late on when former Inter winger Luciano combined with Amauri then saw his diagonal shot come off the crossbar.

Inter are in Coppa Italia action this Thursday with a quarter-final first leg away to Atalanta, then it's Palermo away in the league next Sunday evening.
