Mazzone moves up a gear in spring

Roman coach Carlo Mazzone's teams traditionally do well in the spring months of April and May, with a points per match average of 1.5 and 1.56 in the fourth and fifth calendar months.

Bologna & record of goals conceded

Since Bologna's return to the Serie A in 1996/97, the Rossoblu's record of fewest goals conceded in one season is 39 in 1999/00. So far this season Bologna have let in 26 goals and will beat that record if they don't concede more than 12 goals in the last 9 matches of the campaign.

Only one Bologna defeat in last 14 matches

With 6 victories, 7 draws and just 1 defeat (0-2 in Bergamo) in their last 14 league matches, Bologna are one of the most in-form Serie A sides at the moment.

Martins prolific against Bologna

Obafemi Martins has scored 5 of his 31 goals in competitive matches for Inter in games against Bologna, making the Rossoblu the Nigerian striker's favourite target. Martins scored at home and away to Bologna in the 2003/04 Serie A season, and netted a hat-trick in January's Coppa Italia clash at the Dall'Ara.

Mancini's golden April

According to the statistics, teams coached by Roberto Mancini do better in April, with 7 wins, 4 draws and 2 defeats from 13 Serie A matches (a points per match average of 1.92).

BOLOGNA - Inter consolidate third place in the Serie A table with a 1-0 victory over Bologna in Saturday's Week 30 clash at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium thanks to Julio Cruz's early goal against his old side.

In the fourth minute Cruz slotted home from close range after van der Meyde burst past Capuano then entered the area before passing square to the Argentine. Bologna thought they had equalised six minutes later when Igli Tare rose above the Nerazzurri defence to head home a Bellucci cross from the left. But after consulting with linesman Niccolai, match referee Stefano Farina correctly disallowed the goal as Bellucci was offside when he received short from Amoroso.

Conversely, the decision to disallow Andy van der Meyde's effort from a Karagounis through ball on the half hour was incorrect as the replay showed that the Dutch winger was in an onside position when he began his run.

At the other end, Francesco Toldo pulled off an incredible save from Capuano's volley on 36 minutes to conserve Inter's lead, and made crucial second-half saves from Bellucci and Meghni after the restart as the Rossoblu tried to claw their way back into the game.

But Inter ran the match well, created chances on the break, and substitute Obafemi Martins almost scored a second on 78 minutes when he ran on to a delightful through ball from Cruz then lifted the ball over Pagliuca but saw his shot finish wide.
