Massimo Silva faces Inter for the first time as a coach.

Inter prolific with subs

Seven of Inter's twenty-four Serie A goals in 2005/06 have been scored by substitutes: Cruz (4), Adriano (2) and Cambiasso (1). No other team has scored as many so far this season through subs.

Ten different Nerazzurri on target

Inter and AC Milan have scored with ten different players in the league so far this season - more than any other team. The Nerazzurri who have hit the target in the 2005/06 Serie A are Cruz, Adriano, Cambiasso, Cordoba, Martins, Figo, Materazzi, Recoba, Samuel and Stankovic.

Inter invincible from 75'-90'

Inter and Juve are the only two teams contesting the 2005/06 championship yet to concede a goal in the final fifteen-minute periods of matches, added time included. The positive trend continues from last season, when the Nerazzurri let in just 8 goals in the final quarter-hour periods of Serie A matches (only Udinese and Milan did better, with 6 goals conceded).

Inter, Ascoli: no pens given in 2005/06

Serie A Week 14 opponents Inter and Ascoli are two of four teams yet to have a penalty given in their favour this season. The other two sides are Parma and Treviso. Along with Cagliari, Chievo and Sampdoria, Ascoli are one of four teams to have had three penalties given against him - more than the other sixteen Serie A sides.

Record negative run for Ascoli

Ascoli's last Serie A win was the 2-1 home victory over Sampdoria on 16 October. Since then they have collected 4 draws and 2 defeats to make it a record run of 6 negative top-flight results for the Bianconeri.

Ascoli goal wide open

Ascoli have let in at least one goal in each of their last eleven Serie A matches (total 15 goals). The Bianconeri last kept a clean sheet in the goalless away draw with Lecce on 11 September.

MILAN - Inter beat Ascoli 1-0 at the Meazza thanks to a stunning goal by Adriano to make it five consecutive victories for the Nerazzurri, who join Fiorentina in third place in the Serie A table and close the gap on AC Milan ahead of next weekend's derby.

The Brazilian striker put Inter in front in the 25th minute with an unstoppable curling free kick that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

An in-form Dejan Stankovic went close from the distance either side of Adriano's tenth goal of the season, sending a snapshot inches wide before finishing off the Nerazzurri's most fluid passing move of the first half with another long-range effort that wasn't far off.

Inter had plenty of chances to build on their lead as Ascoli had goalkeeper Coppola to thank for two close-range saves in quick succession from Adriano and Cambiasso after the restart.

Obafemi Martins, on for the injured Alvaro Recoba before the break, went close to adding a second in injury time, meeting Cristiano Zanetti's well-timed through ball then firing just wide.

Inter take on Rangers at Ibrox in Champions League Matchday 6 on Tuesday before next Sunday evening's Madonnina derby.
