MILAN - Serie A leaders Inter defeated Atalanta 2-1 at the Meazza to move three points clear of Roma, 1-0 winners at Genoa in Saturday's early game.

Mancini's team took the lead in the 11th minute when David Suazo played a delightful one-two with Julio Cruz and sent a crisp left-footed finish beyond Coppola.

Julio Cruz added Inter's second on the half hour, slotting in the loose ball after Suazo's sublime effort from the acutest of angles came back off the crossbar.

Atalanta reduced the arrears six minutes before half time, Floccari scoring with a shot on the turn from 20 yards.

The high point of a dreary second half was the return to competitive action of Marco Materazzi after almost 100 days on the sidelines.
