MILAN - Inter were held to a goalless draw by Lazio in the first leg of their of the Coppa Italia semi-final.

Mancini made a host of changes from the side that beat Fiorentina last Sunday, while Lazio fielded a near full-strength team.

The Biancocelesti dominated the first half but produced few chances on goal, thanks to some alert goalkeeping by Toldo and vital blocks by central defenders Chivu and Materazzi.

Maniche had Inter's first chance on 15 minutes, his powerful deflected shot finishing in the arms of Ballotta.

Inter finished the first half strongly after Mancini introduced Bolzoni for the injured Figo. Crespo had a shot saved at point-blank range by Ballotta, and Jimenez was denied by Zauri.

Both teams were made to rue missed chances in an evenly balanced second half. Crespo could have given Inter the lead on 70 minutes but he hooked over on the turn after receiving from Jimenez.

Lazio had a goal ruled out on 77 minutes when Mauri was flagged offside after heading in Ledesma's free kick.

The teams meet again at the Stadio Olimpico in three weeks' time.
