Inter, without a penalty for 22 matches

So far this season the Nerazzurri have received 3 penalties, but the last one was awarded 22 games ago, on 3 November 2012: scored by Diego Milito in Juventus 1-3 Inter.

Chivu: 200 games in the Serie A

Should Cristian Chivu take to the pitch this afternoon, he would celebrate his 200th match in the Serie A. His current 199 appearances have been racked up wearing the shirts of Roma and Inter. His debut in Italy came on 14 September 2003 in Roma 5-0 Brescia.

Inter without a scoreless draw for 37 matches

Inter, together with Roma, are one of the two teams that have yet to register a 0-0 draw in the 2012/13 Serie A season. The last scoreless draw for the Nerazzurri came on 22 April 2012 away to Fiorentina, 37 matches ago.

Palermo unbeaten in last 4 games

Palermo are coming off of a 4-match unbeaten run, with 2 wins and 2 draws. Their last defeat came on 17 March away to AC Milan. Should the Rosanero avoid a defeat against Inter then they would equal their best run in the Serie A this season: 5 games without a loss from Week 6 to Week 10, when the Sicilian team registered 1 victory and 4 draws.

Inter, one of Miccoli's preferred targets

Fabrizio Miccoli is looking to add yet another milestone to his career with Palermo. After having become their top Serie A scorer of all time (72 goals scored so far), he is now about to register 161 Serie A appearances with the club. This would put him equal at number 1 on the list with Mattia Cassani. Furthermore, in Inter, Miccoli will be facing his 2nd favourite team, as he currently boasts 8 goals scored against the Nerazzurri (even with Roma). The only team that has let in more of his goals is Chievo, with 11 against.

PALERMO – It was a victory for the Rosanero at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, thanks to a first-half goal from Josip Ilicic. The Nerazzurri are still stuck on 53 points in the standings.

On 10 minutes Palermo took the lead after an incredible sequence of events: a ball into the box, an error from Silvestre that freed up Miccoli, his assist to Ilicic and a shot into the goal. The Nerazzurri’s defence looked naive as they stood like statues, awaiting the referee’s whistle for a foul by Silvestre on Miccoli. Inter then tried to react. On 17 minutes Zanetti was forced to leave the pitch due to an injury. Then at the half-hour mark Alvarez came inches away from an equaliser. There were some fantastic saves, as always, from Handanovic, who came up big on several occasions when facing the dangerous Miccoli. Rocchi threatened to score at the end of the half but the teams went into the dressing rooms with the hosts leading 1-0.

There were no further goals in the second half, despite the many chances that fell to both sides. In the 68th minute Handanovic pulled off a fantastic save to deny Miccoli. Fifteen minutes later Barreto and Aronica foiled Alvarez who was bearing down on the goal. And thus the Nerazzurri were unable to find the equalizer, as Palermo secured the three points.
