MILAN – Recreational, sports and educational activities have begun for youngsters aged between six and 14 in areas next to social housing throughout our city. The ‘Centro estivo diffuso’ project, which is part of the City Council's #EstatePopolare programme, is coming directly to where people live for the first time, providing a summer offering that will benefit neighbourhoods in all of Milan’s Zones (except for Zone 1).
From 10:00 to 12:00 CEST this morning, on via Adolfo Consolini 4 in the district of Gallaratese, around 40 children were involved in football activities, with games designed in such a way that close contact between the youngsters was avoided. A final practice match allowed the children to run about and enjoy themselves despite the August heat.
It was a positive experience, one which put the childrens’ needs first. The game of football was used as an instrument for fun and for educational purposes at the same time. It’s the beginning of a new adventure, and the hope is that this is just the start of an initiative that will last for a very long time.
