Papadopulo v Inter

Siena boss Papadopulo has faced Inter on just one occasion.

In detail:

2003/04 Serie A Siena-Inter 0-1 ----

Inter v top flight debutants in 21st century

Siena are the third Serie A debutant to face Inter at the San Siro in the new century. The Nerazzurri drew 1-1 with Reggina on 2 April 2000 then lost 2-1 to ChievoVerona on 15 December 2001

Goals conceded in each of Inter’s last five matches

After two goals let in - against Juventus and Perugia - in the first seven matches of the Zaccheroni era Inter have had a reversal of fortunes, with at least one goal conceded in their last five Serie A games, for a total of six. That hadn’t happened for almost two years. From April to May 2002 the Nerazzurri let in goals in five consecutive matches, for a total of ten.

Materazzi and van der Meyde winners for Inter

If Marco Materazzi and Andy Meyde score, Inter win. So far this season, the defender has scored three times in the Serie A (away to Modena and Siena and at home to Ancona), and Inter have bagged nine points. Similarly, the Nerazzurri went on to win when the Dutch midfielder netted away to Arsenal in the Champions League, at home to Udinese in the Coppa Italia and at home to Reggina in the championship.

Siena: eight goals from subs this season

Together with Juventus, Siena have seen eight goals scored by substitutes so far this Serie A campaign: Ventola (a brace against Juventus and one against Modena), Menegazzo (against Lazio and Perugia), Flo (against Empoli), Morello (against Modena) and Taddei (against Perugia).

Tuscan penalties and cards

So far this season, Siena have been awarded five penalties, had eight players sent off and have been shown a total of fifty-nine yellow cards, more than any other team contesting the 2003/04 Serie A championship.

Papadopolu's men looking for first away victory

Siena are still without an away win in the Italian top flight. So far, the Tuscans have recorded four draws and five defeats from nine Serie A trips. Their last win on the road was a 3-1 victory over Genoa last 24 May, the day on which the Bianconeri were mathematically assured of promotion from the Serie B.

MILAN - Recoba, Adriano, Recoba, Adriano. After a bleak January, the Nerazzurri got the new month off to the perfect start with a 4-0 thrashing of Siena at the Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday evening.

Alberto Zaccheroni handed San Siro debuts to Adriano and Dejan Stankovic, and the effect was clear for all to see as the Brazilian showed all his pace and power in attack while the Serb - who joined Inter from Lazio on Saturday - stamped out his authority in midfield along with an impressive Javier Farinos.

In true international style, Inter's starting line-up consisted of three Italians, two Argentines, a Paraguayan, a Spaniard, a Dane, a Serb, a Uruguayan and a Brazilian, with a Colombian, a Frenchman and another Italian on in the second half. The result was a world-class performance, with Alvaro Recoba in particularly sparkling form.

After hitting the crossbar with an angled, near-range effort, Il Chino Recoba put Inter in front on 20 minutes. The Uruguayan forward received from Adriano on the edge of the Tuscan box, side-stepped captain Mignani curled a left-footed shot out of Rossi's reach and into the top left-hand corner.

Adriano made it 2-0 just after the restart with his first goal since returning to Inter. Last man Roque Junior slipped and the Brazilian latched on to Cannavaro's long ball forward then shot past Rossi.

The Nerazzurri's third came from the penalty spot after Adriano was brought down by fellow countryman Roque Junior. Recoba stepped up to take the spot kick and smashed it into the top left-hand corner. Not to be outdone, Adriano netted his second with a low strike after superb work by Javier Zanetti on the right wing.

Inter take on Juve in another Nerazzurri v Bianconeri clash this Wednesday in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semis at the Delle Alpi.
