Italy derbies in Turin

Inter have played 85 competitive matches away to Juventus. Of those, the Bianconeri have won 58 (last win 3-0 in 2002/03 Serie A), with 15 draws (last draw 2-2 in 2003/04 Coppa Italia) and 12 Nerazzurri victories (last Inter win 3-1, 2003/04 Serie A).

Capello v Mancini

The two coaches have faced off 10 times (5 Capello victories, 4 draws and just 1 Mancini win).

Juventus and fair play

After 31 2004/05 Serie A matches, Juventus have had just two players sent off (Emerson in Juventus 2-0 Roma and Olivera in Chievo 0-1 Juventus), fewer than any other team. The Bianconeri are also one of three teams to have had just 2 sendings-off in their favour.

Buffon, Vieri & Inter

Gianluigi Buffon is up against the team and player who have scored most in competitive matches against him. Of the 361 goals let in during his career, 25 have been scored by Inter and 8 by Christian Vieri.

Mancini's golden April

According to the statistics, April is the best month for Roberto Mancini's teams in the Italian championship, with 9 victories, 4 draws and 2 defeats in the fourth calendar month (a points per match average of 2.06). And April 2005 has begun in the best possible way for Mancini with a 1-0 and 2-0 victories over Bologna and Cagliari.

Inter equal two historic records

The draw with Lazio in Week 28 was Inter's 17th of the 2004/05 Serie A campaign. The 1-1 stalemate at the Olimpico saw the Nerazzurri equal the club's record of draws in one season (set in 1991/92), and also equalled Bologna's record of draws in one 20/21-team Serie A season (set in 1948/49).

Inter unbeaten away in Serie A

The Nerazzurri's last defeat in a Serie A trip was that 2-1 reverse at Lecce last 2 May. Since then Inter have played 16 league matches away from home, winning 5 and drawing 11.

Del Piero decisive

Alex Del Piero is the most decisive player in the 2004/05 Serie A championship. The Bianconeri fantasista has won 24 points for his team this season, with decisive goals in the matches (in chronological order) against Sampdoria, Siena, Lecce, Roma, Livorno, Siena again, Roma and Reggina.

Record second half of season for Inter

The Nerazzurri have collected 25 points in the second half of the season, with 7 victories, 4 draws and just 1 defeat. If the league table were limited to these 11 matches, Inter would be second in the table, level on points with Milan and one behind Juve. At the same point in the first half of the season Inter had just 16 points.

wins(16) draws(19) defeats(69)
TURIN - Inter beat Serie A leaders Juventus 1-0 at the Delle Alpi on Wednesday to consolidate third spot in the table thanks to a first-half goal by Julio Cruz.

Ibrahimovic used his head in the early stages of a first half which saw five yellow cards produced by referee De Santis, mistaking Cordoba and Mihajlovic's bonces for the ball.

But El Jardinero used his rather more effectively in the 25th minute when he beat Birindelli to Ze Maria's outswinging right-wing cross then directed his header past Buffon and into bottom right-hand corner.

The Nerazzurri defence remained compact in a Bianconeri-dominated second half, and Francesco Toldo was brilliant between the posts with crucial saves from Camoranesi and Ibrahimovic, who went closest to an equaliser on 62 minutes when his spectacular volley shaved the post.
