Inter's last Serie A defeat in April

The Nerazzurri haven't lost a league match since 30 April 2006, a 1-0 defeat at Empoli. Roberto Mancini's team have collected 5 wins and as many draws from their 10 Serie A games played since that date.

Inter only unbeaten side in A

Inter are the only team yet to lose a match in this season's Serie A championship. The Nerazzurri, first with Palermo after eight games, have won 5 and drawn 3.

Cordoba set for milestone appearance

If he plays in the 265th Milan derby, Ivan Cordoba will celebrate his 300th competitive appearance since moving to Italy. The Colombian defender, who made his debut for Inter in the 5-0 Serie A win over Perugia on 6 January 2000, has played 205 times in the league, 22 in the cup, 69 in European competitions and 3 in other tournaments.

Zanetti's long goal drought

He recently made his 500th appearance for the Nerazzurri, but Javier Zanetti's last goal for the club was almost four years ago. Inter's captain last scored on 6 November 2002 in a 4-3 Serie A win at Empoli.

Mariano Gonzalez and goals against Milan

Milan are one of three teams Mariano Gonzalez has scored twice against. The others are Bari and Lazio. Argentine winger Gonzalez has notched 9 goals since moving to Italy.

Materazzi, Stankovic on fire in October

With his goal against Livorno on Wednesday, October has become Marco Materazzi's most prolific month of the footballing year: the Inter defender has scored 7 of his 39 league goals in the tenth calendar month. October is also one of Dejan Stankovic's two most prolific months, with 6 out of 34 goals in October matches, the same amount as in September.

Inter's second-half carelessness

Seven of the nine league goals let in by Inter so far this season (77.8% of the total) have come in second halves: 1 from 46'-60', 2 from 61'-75', and 4 from 76'-90'.

Inter prolific in first 15 mins

After eight rounds of Serie A matches, Inter are the most prolific team in the first quarter-hour periods, with 4 goals scored.

Three Milan goals from subs

Three of Milan's seven Serie A goals this season have come from substitutes. Kakà, Oliveira and Kaladze have come off the bench to score one each. Siena are the only other top-flight team to have scored three goals with substitutes.

Milan's clean sheets in first halves

With just 4 goals conceded in the league this season, Milan have the best defence in the Serie A championship. And none of these goals have been scored before half time. Milan are the only team to have kept clean sheets in the first halves of all their matches.

MILAN - In-form Dejan Stankovic scored one and made two as Inter went on to beat AC Milan 4-3 in a thrilling derby encounter at the Giuseppe Meazza. The memorable victory moves Mancini's men three points clear of Palermo at the top of the table ahead of Sunday's matches.

Serbian midfielder Stankovic, who has excelled for Inter since switching to an attacking midfield position, crossed for Hernan Crespo to head in the opener on 17 minutes. Five minutes later he collected a pass from Maicon and rifled an unstoppable right-foot shot into the top left corner to notch his fourth of the season.

Inter kept up the first-half pressure after taking a 2-0 lead, limiting Milan to shots from distance with Kakà twice denied by Julio Cesar. Stankovic and Crespo had chances to increase Inter's lead, but Dida was equal on both occasions.

Carlo Ancelotti made three half-time substitutions, bringing on Oliveira, Gilardino and Maldini on for Ambrosini, Inzaghi and Jankulovski.

Inter looked to have knocked the wind out of Milan's sails two minutes in when Ibrahimovic fired past Dida following a central run on goal by Stankovic.

But the Rossoneri pulled one back soon after when Seedorf's shot rebounded off Cordoba and into the net with Julio Cesar stranded.

Gilardino then had a headed goal ruled out for offside before Mancini introduced Figo and Burdisso for Dacourt and Grosso.

Marco Materazzi rose to head in a Figo cross on 68 minutes and give Inter a seemingly unassailable 4-1 lead, only to be sent off for a second bookable offence after celebrating by pulling his jersey over his face.

With the Nerazzurri down to ten men for the final twenty minutes, Milan rallied and further reduced the arrears when Gilardino met a Cafu cross from the right and sent a flicked header into the top left corner.

Julio Cesar pulled off fine saves from Oliveira, Seedorf and Kakà, and Cordoba made a couple of crucial interventions to preserve Inter's two-goal advantage before Kakà set up a tense finale with a lobbed goal in the first minute of added time.

Oliveira headed narrowly wide of the far post in the dying seconds after rising to meet a Gattuso cross.
