MILAN - Inter produced a dominant display to thrash Torino 4-0 at the Meazza, a result which stretches their lead at the top of the Serie A table to five points as Roma were held 1-1 at Livorno.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened the floodgates from the penalty spot shortly before the interval, with Julio Cruz, Luis Jimenez and Ivan Cordoba adding second-half goals.

Roberto Mancini made numerous changes to the team that beat Lazio in midweek, handing Materazzi his first start since returning from injury and pushing Burdisso into a midfield role with Chivu slotting into a left-back position. Cruz started alongside Ibra in attack while Cesar returned in his customary left-wing role.

The first chance of the game came after five minutes when Ibrahimovic tested Sereni with a right-foot shot from the edge of the area.

Torino replied through Rosina, whose low 25-yard effort was well saved by Julio Cesar.

The reigning Italian champions went close again in the 15th, Sereni blocking Cesar's angled shot with his feet.

Nicola Ventola should have edged the Granata in front on 26 minutes but the former Inter man miskicked his shot from Di Michele's cross.

Inter broke the deadlock in the 38th when Ibrahimovic was brought down by Toro captain Comotto after a delightful through ball from Cruz. The Swedish forward stepped up to the spot and coolly stroked under Sereni for his 14th goal in all competitions this season.

The Nerazzurri came out for the second half with Luis Jimenez on for Cesar. The resulting tactical switches on the field had the Granata players in disarray and Inter took full advantage with two quick goals.

Five minutes in Chivu crossed from the left edge of the Toro box and Cruz headed past Sereni to double Inter's lead. Two minutes after the Argentine's ninth goal of the season Jimenez scored his and Inter's third, finding the far corner with an unstoppable rising drive.

Mancini made a further change in the 60th minute, bringing on Portuguese Under-21 international Pelé for Materazzi.

Toro boss Novellino introduced ex-Inter forward Recoba for Rosina and El Chino almost had an immediate impact, his curling corner kick headed on to the crossbar by Natali.

Ivan Cordoba made extra sure of the points in the 76th, powering home Burdisso's headed assist from Chivu's corner.
