Prandelli & points in October

Cesare Prandelli's best month of the footballing calendar is October. The Fiorentina coach has collected 21 victories, 9 draws and 6 defeats from 36 league fixtures in the tenth calendar month, for a points per game average of 2.

Viola looking for fifth consecutive victory

Fiorentina have won their last four Serie A matches, winning 1-0 at home to Genoa, 2-0 away to Chievo, 3-0 at home to Reggina and 3-1 away to Palermo. If they win again on Wednesday, the Viola will complete a run of five straight wins for the first time since 2005 when they beat Parma 4-1 at home, Siena 2-0 away, Cagliari 2-1 at home, Ascoli 2-0 away and AC Milan 3-1 at home between October and November.

Fiorentina 411 minutes without conceding

In home games, the Viola haven't let in a goal since Pavel Nedved's 39th-minute goal in Fiorentina 1-1 Juventus on the opening day of the season. Fiorentina's home invincibility stands at 411 competitive minutes (the remaining 51 of that Juve draw plus the 1-0 Serie A wins over Bologna and Genoa, the 0-0 draw with Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League, and the 3-0 league victory over Reggina).

Viola unbeaten at home in 18 games

Fiorentina's last home defeat was a 1-0 Serie A loss to AC Milan on 3 February 2008. Prandelli's side have since played 18 competitive fixtures in Florence, winning 13 and drawing 5.

Fiorentina, Inter yet to concede in opening 30 minutes of matches

Fiorentina and Inter are two of the three teams taking part in the 2008/09 Serie A championship yet to concede a goal in the first half-hour periods of matches. The other team is Udinese.

Inter 304 minutes without conceding

The Nerazzurri haven't conceded a goal since Moras' 56th-minute goal in Inter 2-1 Bologna on 4 October 2008. A total of 304 minutes have elapsed since then (remaining 34 minutes of Inter-Bologna plus Roma 0-4, Inter 1-0 Anorthosis, and Inter 0-0 Genoa).

FLORENCE - Fiorentina stretched their unbeaten home run to nineteen matches and Inter lost the top spot as Wednesday's Serie A clash at the Artemio Franchi ended goalless.

Mourinho's Nerazzurri made a strong start and were unlucky not to take a 5th-minute lead when Mancini's angled drive crashed on to Frey's crossbar after a cheeky through ball from Ibrahimovic.

Spurred on by a full house in Florence, the Viola attacked back and Pazzini forced Julio Cesar into a save with a flicked header from Santana's cross.

Ibrahimovic looked good for his sixth of the Serie A season on 27 minutes but the Swede hooked wide from a tight angle after collecting Mancini's lofted pass.

Osvaldo had heaps of chances as Fiorentina found acres of space on the right flank, his best chance coming just before the half hour when he powered over a header from Kuzmanovic's strong cross.

Julio Cesar was called into action again before the break with a great save from Pasqual's scorching free kick.

Mourinho made changes 17 minutes after the restart, replacing Obinna and Mancini with Crespo and Vieira. The Argentine forward almost made an immediate impact minutes after coming on when he had a shot parried by Frey.

Prandelli's reply was to introduce Almiron for Kuzmanovic and replace the tiring Osvaldo with Jovetic.

Fiorentina created three good chances for a late winner. Gamberini climbed highest to head over a Montolivo corner. Pazzini then powered over his header after Pasqual's half-volleyed cross from the left.

And Jovetic fired narrowly over as the Viola maintained their search for a fifth consecutive victory until the final whistle.
