First head-to-head between the coaches

Andrea Stramaccioni and Luigi Delneri have never faced off in opposite dugouts before.

Stramaccioni victorious in only previous game with Genoa - his debut

Andrea Stramaccioni is taking on Genoa in a competitive match for the second time in his coaching career. His first meeting with the Rossoblu was also his debut at the helm of the Inter first team, on 1 April: it ended 5-4 to the Nerazzurri.

Delneri's only win in Milan back in 2001

This is the 20th time Luigi Delneri has crossed paths with Inter during his coaching career. His record reads W6, D5, L8. The current Genoa coach has succeeded in winning just once in the 9 occasions he has travelled to Milan with former clubs. It was a case of first time lucky, winning on his first visit to Inter at the Meazza: Inter 1-2 Chievo Verona on 15 December 2001. Since then, he has seen 3 draws and 5 defeats.

Overall head-to-head results in Milan

Of the 52 meetings between Inter and Genoa in Milan, there have been 39 Nerazzurri victories, 9 draws and 4 Rossoblu triumphs.

Inter unbeaten in 9 home games; 10 would be longest run since 2008-2010

The Nerazzurri haven't lost a competitive match in San Siro since 23 September, a 0-2 Serie A defeat to Siena. Since then they have recorded 7 wins and 2 draws (both 2-2). Should Stramaccioni's charges avoid defeat again today, it would be Inter's longest unbeaten run at the Meazza since a 53-match streak between 2008 and 2010.

Genoa: one win in 13 league games

Genoa have tasted victory just once in their last 13 Serie A fixtures. That was the 0-1 away win at Atalanta on 25 November. In the other 12 matches in this period, the Rossoblu have accumulated 4 draws and 8 defeats. Genoa have lost 8 of their last 10 games.

Last time Genoa beat Inter was in 1994

Genoa haven't got the better of Inter in competitive matches home or away since 6 November 1994. They won 2-1 that day, with Van’t Schip opening the scoring (14), Delvecchio equalising (44) and Ruotolo grabbing the winner (65). In the 14 encounters since then, Inter have won 11 (all 6 of the last 6) and there have been 3 draws.

Andrea Gervasoni to officiate

Gervasoni has taken charge of Inter on 4 occasions prior to today, with 3 wins and 1 defeat for the Nerazzurri. Genoa's record with this afternoon's referee is 9 wins, 5 draws and 1 defeat from 15 matches.

MILAN – The Nerazzurri's last match of 2012 ended with the spoils shared as Genoa earned a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Meazza.

After a fairly bland first period finished goalless, Inter came into the game more after the interval and carved out a number of chances, Palacio in particular going close. Yet it was Genoa who eventually broke the deadlock in the 77th minute: Inter were caught out by a counter-attack as Antonelli found Immobile and the Italy youngster weaved his way through the Nerazzurri back line before poking past Handanovic. Stramaccioni's men responded immediately and equalised with five minutes of normal time remaining. Cambasso timed his run into the box to connect with Cassano's high ball and beat Frey with a well-placed header. The final minutes were frantic as Inter piled forward desperately looking for a winner. Livaja had the chance to snatch the points in the 90th minute but hit the post - much to the dismay of the San Siro faithful. The Nerazzurri end the year on 35 points.
