GENOA - Hernan Crespo scored with fourteen minutes remaining to ensure Inter a share of the points at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Antonio Cassano fired Sampdoria into a 65th-minute lead but El Valdanito popped up with a crucial equaliser to keep Inter unbeaten in the Serie A championship.

The result sees Inter's lead at the top of the table cut to nine points, with Roma edging Fiorentina at the Olimpico ahead of Wednesday's showdown in Milan.

Samp went into Sunday's game with just one defeat in 24 home games, and Mazzarri's men conceded little in the first half.

They offered some flowing football and Maggio forced a magnificent save from Julio Cesar after a move involving Bellucci and Pieri.

Cassano, in inspirational form, fired narrowly wide and had a crisp effort blocked by Julio Cesar as Inter struggled to impose their game.

In between, the Bari-born fantasista set up Bellucci, whose first-time shot on the turn whizzed wide.

Inter were limited to counter-attacks in the first half, their only shot on goal coming from Suazo who saw his low effort saved by Castellazzi.

Mancini's team struggled to up their game after the interval. Instead, Sampdoria were firing on all cylinders and had a goal ruled out for offside when Bonazzoli fired home after meeting Cassano's deft through ball.

The Blucerchiati got their reward on 65 minutes when Cassano took Sammarco's headed pass into the box and fired a right-footed shot past Julio Cesar.

Samp captain Palombo had a fiercely struck free kick kept out by Julio Cesar as the home side looked to build on their lead.

But the Nerazzurri reorganised well in the final stages and grabbed a leveller in the 76th when Crespo beat Castellazzi with an unstoppable flicked header from Stankovic's cross.
