Mazzarri and Mihajlovic all level; no defeats, no goals conceded by Mazzarri at home

Walter Mazzarri and Sinisa Mihajlovic are set to pit their pits against each for the sixth time as coaches today. Previous encounters are perfectly matched, with one win apiece and three draws. In the three competitive meetings with Mazzarri playing at home, Mihajlovic's charges are yet to win or even score: the current Nerazzurri boss has won one and clocked up two goalless draws.

Mazzarri 5-5 Sampdoria: no goals conceded in 292 minutes by the coach's teams

Since taking up coaching, Walter Mazzarri has faced Sampdoria – the team he led to the Coppa Italia final during his two-year stay in Genoa from 2007 to 2009 – 12 times, with a record of W5, D2, L5. Mazzarri's sides have not let in a single goal at home for more than three games (292 minutes), the last coming on 17 December 2006 when Reggina were beaten 0-1 at home by Quaglarella's 68th-minute strike.

No draws for Mihajlovic against Inter. Goals guaranteed

Sinisa Mihajlovic has come up against his former club Inter four times as a coach, with one victory to his name and three defeats. On each occasion, both teams hit the target at least once, with 6 goals for the Serbian's men and eight for the Nerazzurri. Besides plying his trade at Inter for two seasons as a player (2004/05 and 2005/06, 43 appearances and six goals in competitive matches), Mihajlovic also spent two years at the club as Roberto Mancini's number two (in 2006/07 and 2007/08).

First 14 competitive matches: Mazzarri equals Mourinho's score

Walter Mazzarri has made a strong start to his Nerazzurri career, winning eight, drawing five and losing just one of his first 14 competitive fixtures – exactly the same results José Mourinho had obtained after his first 14 matches in charge of Inter. That works out as an average of 2.07 points per game. For the record, Mourinho's 15th match ended in a 3-3 draw away to Cypriot outfit Anorthosis in the Champions League.

Inter, one of three teams with most different scorers in 2013/14 Serie A

Eleven Nerazzurri have hit the back of the net in the league this season, meaning that Inter - along with Lazio and Roma - have so far achieved the highest number of different goalscorers. The 11 Nerazzurri to register their names on the score sheet in 2013/14 are Alvarez, Cambiasso, Guarin, Icardi, Jonathan, Milito, Nagatomo, Palacio, Ranocchia, Rolando and Taider.

Inter penalty-less in 2013/14

Thirteen matches into the 2013/14 Serie A and Inter are still yet to be awarded a penalty. Only three other sides (Atalanta, Chievo Verona and Parma) have also not benefited from a spot kick this campaign. Inter's last effort from 12 yards was on 8 May in Inter 1-3 Lazio (Alvarez missed): that's 15 league matches without a penalty, a surprising statistic considering that Mazzarri's men are the Serie A's topscorers this term with 30 goals.

Sampdoria, 17 years without an away win in competitive fixtures against Inter!

Today's visitors Sampdoria have not beaten Inter in a competitive match away from home since 15 December 1996, when they emerged from a topsy-turvy match at the Meazza as 4-3 winners. In the 13 competitive matches played on Inter's patch since then, the Blucerchiati have mustered just five draws, losing the other eight.

When blue sees red

Sampdoria have had more players sent off this term than any other Serie A outfit: four in 13 games. The four Blucerchiati to have received their marching orders are Barillà, Castellini, Costa and Krsticic.
