Internazionale sit in second place on 69 points, two points behind first-placed Milan. Fifth-placed Roma, the first club outside of the Champions League places, are 11 points behind the Nerazzurri with five matches to play. The Giallorossi are currently bound instead for the Europa League, for which they are two points ahead of sixth-placed Fiorentina.

Inter won their last Serie A match 3-1 at Stadio Alberto Picco against Spezia, extending their undefeated run to seven (W4 D3 L0). Roma's last Serie A match resulted in a 1-1 draw against Napoli at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to extend their unbeaten streak to 12 (W7 D5 L0).

The previous Serie A fixture between the sides saw Inter emerge victorious 3-0 at Stadio Olimpico in December. Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring for the Nerazzurri in the 15th minute. Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries also were on the scoresheet.

Inter have got the better of Roma of late, unbeaten in their last nine Serie A matches (W3 D6 L0). Roma are looking for their first league win in encounters between the two teams since February 2017. The Nerazzurri have outscored the Giallorossi 17-10 during their unbeaten streak.

The form of Lautaro Martínez and Dzeko has been irreplaceable for Inter this season. Martínez is the team's leading scorer with 15 goals, which is tied for the fourth highest in the league in 2021/2022, four of those having been the crucial first of the match. Dzeko has been nearly as impressive with 13 goals.

Edin Dzeko, who scored in the reverse fixture at the Olimpico, made 199 Serie A appearances for Roma, scoring 85 goals – he has scored 98 goals in the competition, and could become the 90th different player to reach 100 goals in the Italian top-flight.

Hosts Inter have been tough to beat at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this season with 11 wins, three draws, and just two losses in 16 Serie A contests. The Nerazzurri are looking to extend a three-match home unbeaten streak (W2 D1 L0) dating to March 4 against Salernitana. Roma have seven wins, three draws, and six losses away from home this season in league matches. The Giallorossi will be out to extend a six-match away unbeaten streak (W3 D3 L0). The last time they were defeated away was January 6 against Milan.

In their last six league matches, Inter have won four and drawn two. Roma, meanwhile, have won four and drawn two in their last six.
