Inter U23 got their season off to a flier with an important victory away at Catanta. The Nerazzurri triumphed 2-1 at the Massimino, a traditionally very tough place to play, thanks to a solid display. They roared home at the end of the second half and were resolute in the second half. It was a one-two punch just before the break that won the day, as Maye opened the scoring from a corner in the 39th minute, before Mosconi doubled the Nerazzurri's lead from the penalty spot in stoppage time. In the second half, Vecchi's side largely contained the hosts' reaction, despite Russo pulling one back for Catania on 65 minutes. Inter even came close to adding a third on a number of occasions late into proceedings. It was a brilliant opening day against strong opposition, a tough test that gave the Nerazzurri their first three points of the season.
