Born in Belgium on 13 January 2004, Marie is an offensive midfielder.

Detruyer took her first steps in football at an early age, starting to play at the age of five with Verbroedering Beersel-Drogenbos. At the age of 10, she was noticed by an observer and started playing with the men's team of Eendracht Aalst. Later, after spending a year in Gent's youth team, she moved to Oud-Heverlee Leuven in 2020. During her first season she twice won the best player of the month award for the Leuven team. In 2021/22, OH Leuven finished second in the league: Marie was nominated for the player of the year award, a nomination that she also obtained at the end of the following year. In the summer of 2024, after 105 appearances and 44 goals, she left OH Leuven and joined the Nerazzurri.

Detruyer played for the Belgian national team for the first time in the under-15 team in 2019. After also playing for the U17 and U19 teams, she made her debut with the senior national team in 2021.
