29: SET-PIECE GOALS

The team’s main weapon this season and defining feature of their Scudetto win. No team scored more set-piece goals than Inter: 29 goals came from dead-ball situations, and the 18 goals scored from corners represent a record in the competition since this stat has been tracked (2004/05). hey also set another record with headed goals, scoring 19 - more than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues. It was a crucial edge in breaking down stubborn, tightly organised defences.

GOAL DISTRIBUTION

A closer look shows just how varied Inter’s attacking threats were, with plenty of different players and solutions contributing in front of goal. They led the league for goals scored by defenders (17) and forwards (42), and were second for midfield goals (26). They were also top for goals from inside the box (71) and from distance (14), plus four own goals that added to their total. Chivu’s side showed a real ability to hurt opponents in different ways, a major factor in their run to a 21st league title.

17: DIFFERENT GOALSCORERS

Involving everyone was key to succeeding: Inter had 17 different goalscorers this season (the fourth-best record in the league), including as many as six players with more than five league goals, at least twice as many as any other team in the competition (Lautaro, Thuram, Çalhanoglu, Esposito, Dimarco, and Zielinski). They also led the league for goals coming from substitutes (12), underlining the importance of the whole squad in their title-winning campaign.
