Mancini better in second half of season

In his first two full seasons as a coach, Roberto Mancini's Lazio did better in the first than second halves of Serie A campaigns (12 points less in 2002/03, 2 less last season). But the trend is different so far this season. Inter have won 15 points in the first 8 matches of the second half of the 2004/05 campaign, 3 more than the 12 collected after the same number of matches in the first half.

Inter close to two records

The draw in Udine last month was Inter's 16th of the 2004/05 season. One more will see the Nerazzurri equal their record of 17 draws in all competitions in 1991/92, and also the record of the draws in the 20/21- team Italian championship currently held by Bologna (17 in 1948/49).

Inter still unbeaten away from home

The Nerazzurri might have lost the Milan derby two weeks ago, but they are still unbeaten on the road in 2004/05. Inter's last away defeat was the 2-1 reverse at Lecce last 2 May. Since then, they have collected 8 wins and 13 draws from 21 away matches.

Mancini unbeaten in first matches against ex-clubs

As a player and a coach, Roberto Mancini has never lost his first match against former teams. In 1988/89 Sampdoria drew 0-0 away to Bologna, then in 1997/98 Lazio beat Sampdoria 4-0 in Genoa. Last November Inter drew 1-1 away to Fiorentina.

No hat-trick of Lazio home wins since December 2003

Lazio haven't won three consecutive Serie A home matches since October-December 2003, when the Romans won five in a row (victories over ChievoVerona, Bologna, Perugia, Juventus and Inter. The Biancocelesti go into Saturday's match at the Olimpico with home wins against Atalanta (2-1) and Parma (2-0) behind them.

ROME - The Nerazzurri came back from behind to hold Lazio to a 1-1 draw in Saturday night's Serie A Week 28 clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

Roberto Mancini made a number of changes to the side that beat Lecce last weekend, with Materazzi, Ze Maria, Kily Gonzalez, Cruz, Emre, C.Zanetti and Toldo all in the starting line-up.

Adriano had a chested goal ruled out on the half hour after unintentionally handling the ball, and just when it seemed Inter were close to an opener the Filippini brothers combined to give Lazio the lead right on half time. Antonio met Emanuele's cross from the left edge of the penalty box then powered a header past Toldo.

Inter's chances of a comeback were facilitated ten minutes after the restart when Giannichedda was sent off for a second booking. The equaliser came on 70 minutes when Cruz headed Ze Maria's right-wing free kick into the top left-hand corner of the net.

With Lazio limited to counter-attacks, Inter pushed for a winner and almost got one in time added on when Stankovic's spectacular volley hit the top of the crossbar.
