Just one Lazio defeat in last 14 home games

Since Lazio 1-2 Palermo on 17 September 2006, the Biancocelesti have played 13 competitive (Serie A and Coppa Italia) matches at home, winning 10 and drawing 3.

Biancocelesti chasing fourth consecutive home win

After home victories over Udinese (5-0), Ascoli (3-1) and Roma (3-0), Lazio are one away from their fourth consecutive Serie A win at the Olimpico. The last time the capital side won four league games in a row was between August and October 2005.

Lazio prolific in second halves

Just 8 of Lazio's 26 Serie A goals this season have come in the first 45-minute periods of games. The other 18 have all come after the restarts: 5 from 46'-60', 8 from 61'-75' (more goals than any other team in this 15-minute period) and 5 from 76'-90' (added time included).

Lazio & goals from free kicks

Lazio are one of four Serie A teams to have scored two goals from direct free kicks this season. The other three teams are Catania, Empoli and Messina.

Inter unbeaten in 18 games, chasing absolute record for consecutive wins in A

Inter are unbeaten in 18 competitive games, with 11 consecutive victories (a club record under the administration of Moratti) and 3 draws since their last defeat, a 2-0 home loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on 27 September 2006. Roberto Mancini's men have collected 9 consecutive championship wins to set a new club record, and are now just 2 victories away from equalling the absolute record held by Luciano Spalletti's Roma who won 11 in a row during the 2005/06 campaign.

Mancini & points in December

Teams coached by Roberto Mancini win more points in December than any other month of the footballing year. The Inter coach has a points per match average of 2.22 in the twelfth calendar month thanks to 15 victories, 4 draws and 3 defeats from 22 matches.

Inter's last away defeat in September

Sporting Lisbon 0-1 Inter on 12 September 2006 was the Nerazzurri's last defeat on the road. Since that date Mancini's team have collected 7 wins and 3 draws on their travels.

No Serie A goal against Inter for 315 minutes

Inter haven't conceded a Serie A goal since Amauri's strike on the stroke of half-time in Palermo 1-2 Inter (26 November 2006). Including the remaining 45 minutes of that match, plus the entire games against Siena (2-0 at home), Empoli (3-0 away) and Messina (2-0 at home), the Nerazzurri have gone 315 competitive top-flight minutes without conceding a goal.

ROME - Inter beat Lazio at the Olimpico for the first time in over a decade thanks to goals in either half from Esteban Cambiasso and Marco Materazzi, despite playing half of the match with ten men following the dismissal of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The 2-0 victory keeps the Serie A leaders seven points clear of Roma, who collected a 2-1 away win against Torino, and wins Mancini's team the accolade of 'winter champions' with two matches to go until the halfway point in the season.

Lazio made the brighter start, with Nigerian forward Stephen Makinwa testing Julio Cesar on his first start for the Biancocelesti since his summer move from Palermo.

The Nerazzurri upped their game towards the end of the half after a period of Lazio pressure, going close when Ibrahimovic chested a cross into the path of Hernan Crespo who fired agonisingly wide with just Peruzzi to beat.

The Argentine forward made amends almost immediately, squeezing between two opponents before passing for Cambiasso to slide home from the edge of the six-yard box.

Ibrahimovic saw red for a second yellow in added time at the end of the first half, forcing the Nerazzurri to play the entire second period in numerical inferiority.

Lazio failed to capitalise on the man advantage as Inter limited their opponents to shots from distance after the restart. Massimo Oddo went closest to scoring but was twice denied by Julio Cesar who made splendid saves from the Biancocelesti captain.

With five minutes to go Materazzi rose at the far post to nod in a Figo left-wing free kick and scupper any chances of a Lazio comeback as Inter held on for their tenth consecutive league victory.
