Midfielder after Bologna win: "Pleased to go through, now for Palermo. This is a team with superb players and everyone's been really welcoming"

MILAN - Roberto Gagliardini could hardly have made a better start to life at Inter. He hasn't even been at the club a week yet and he's already played 210 minutes and helped Inter secure two wins - producing two highly impressive displays on the way.

He was nonetheless aware of the need to do better after the Nerazzurri let a two-goal lead slip against Bologna before coming out on top in extra time.

"We were naïve to concede those two goals," the midfielder admitted. "We should have been more careful, especially when Bologna hit us on the break.

"Still, we're pleased to take our place in the next round. Now we need to immediately switch our focus to Palermo."

The 22-year-old then explained that his perfect start has been aided by his new team-mates.

"I've joined a team with some superb players and I'm really happy to be here. It's been easy to settle in because my team-mates and the boss have been really welcoming."

Asked about the possibility of an Italy call-up, Gagliardini replied: “I'm just taking things one game at a time. I'm sure that if I perform well then good things will come.”
