Inter fall to their first defeat of 2020 in Genoa. Up next for Armando Madonna's side is Pescara on Saturday

BOGLIASCO – Armando Madonna’s Inter side fell to their first defeat this year in their rearranged matchday eight clash against Sampdoria in the Primavera 1 TIM division. The Blucerchiati ran out 2-1 winners against the Nerazzurri, who were unable to make their late pressure pay. Inter’s U19s will have the opportunity to get back to winning ways against Pescara on Saturday.

After an even first 15 minutes where the game was largely played in midfield, Inter had the first opportunity of the match in the 19th minute through Mulattieri, who was unable to find the net following Persyn’s cross. Pompetti then had an effort for the hosts after 25 minutes but Stankovic was able to put the ball behind for a corner. The Nerazzurri threatened with half an hour on the clock: Persyn set up Schirò for a shot, but the Sampdoria defence somewhat fortuitously managed to get a toe to the ball and send it narrowly wide. The deadlock was broken in the 40th minute when D’Amico’s great free kick flew into the net.

Immediately after the restart, Mulattieri headed Squizzato’s free kick onto the crossbar before the Blucerchiati punished Inter on the counter: Balde slid the ball through to Rocha, who subsequently supplied the finish to extend the hosts’ lead. In the 78th minute, the Nerazzurri reduced the arrears through Casadei, who scored with a great left-footed strike on his Primavera debut. Madonna’s team poured forward late on, but the hosts managed to hold firm and see the game out to pick up the three points.
