The Nerazzurri Coach’s comments after Inter vs. Ludogorets: “It was important to get through the tie and give minutes to those who needed them”

MILAN – Mission accomplished for Inter who, after their 2-0 win in Razgrad, also won the second leg of the tie against Ludogorets and progress to the UEFA Europa League round of 16.

Behind closed doors at San Siro, it was Biraghi and Lukaku’s goals that sealed qualification for the Nerazzurri: “I’ve experienced games behind closed doors before with the National Team and it’s a strange atmosphere which isn’t easy because it feels more like a training session,” Antonio Conte commented at the end of the match, “but the boys had the right approach and even after conceding we reacted immediately.”

“It was important to progress and we managed to give some minutes to those who needed them. There’s always work to be done and the postponement of the match against Sampdoria allowed us to test out a few things, which we’ll be able to work on again after the match. We never want to hand over two points so the whole team must work hard, especially to find the right balance in the middle of the pitch.”

Conte concluded by looking ahead at the next important tasks that will see the Nerazzurri engaged on three fronts: “Only at the end of this tough run that awaits us will we understand how far away we are from winning and how far we still have to go. A club like Inter, with tradition and ambition, must always aim for the top in all competitions that we participate in. Having said that, winning is never easy but we’ll try to do our best knowing that wins don’t come overnight. We need to gain experience and continue our journey.”
