A video and stats on the Nerazzurri winger

MILAN – Antonio Candreva’s 2019/20 season began in August with one of the best goals of the campaign: a right-footed screamer from almost 30 yards against Lecce in the win on the opening day of the league season. A goal that breathed life into the right winger, who in 2019/20 has returned to covering the ground, providing assists and producing some great attacking displays. Without, of course, shirking his defensive responsibilities either.

Employed on the right-hand side of a midfield five, just like he was for the Azzurri in the 2016 Euros under Conte’s management, Candreva has consistently performed with an important mix of quality and quantity. He’s made 26 appearances so far, totalling over 1800 minutes played, and he’s managed to cover an average of around 10km per game: he’s constantly patrolling that right flank.

Out of his 33 attempted shots, he’s managed to score four goals: two in the league (against Lecce and Parma, another right-footed strike from distance), one in the Champions League (a great solo run and finish against Dortmund), and one in the Coppa Italia (the opening goal against Fiorentina in the quarter-final).

Candreva has also created 45 goal scoring chances and provided six assists this season, five of which have come in the league: against Parma for Lukaku, a perfect cross for Lautaro against SPAL, two for Lukaku against Genoa and one from a corner against AC Milan when de Vrij made it 3-2. His other assist came in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund when he set up Vecino.

He runs, crosses and makes passes (with an 81% accuracy). Candreva’s season has been full throttle and below is a video of his best moments.
