The Nerazzurri midfielder the day before the Champions League returns: "We're a great team but we still have to work hard and prove that"

APPIANO GENTILE – It’s the eve of an important match for Inter, who will take to the pitch at 21:00 CEST on Wednesday 23 October at the Meazza. Ahead of their clash against Borussia Dortmund on matchday three of the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League, Marcelo Brozovic spoke to the press alongside Antonio Conte. This is what the Croatian midfielder had to say: “This year, many players with experience have come in and we’re certainly a strong team, but we still need to demonstrate this and work hard. Tomorrow, a massive game is in store. We’re playing at home and want to win.”

He then spoke about Stefano Sensi’s absence in midfield: “I need to do my job on the pitch, I want to help all our players. Sensi is an important player for us and it’ll be more difficult without him. However, we need to do our best irrespective of this.”

The Croatian then spoke about his personal development both on and off the pitch which has led him to be such a fundamental figure in the side’s play: “Maybe I was just younger three or four years ago, so many things have changed, I’ve also become a father and I see things differently now. I put in the work by myself when things weren’t going well, I’ve worked so hard and I’ve developed in general. I’m calm on the pitch, I always want to receive the ball and I want to be right next to my teammates in order to help them best. The Coach also has a clear set of ideas, I know what he wants from me and I’m always there to learn. Where can I improve even further? In my defensive play, I have to be more in the game, that’s what the Coach tells me too, I have to keep an eye on the attackers’ movement on the pitch, maybe I still lose the ball a bit too much, I have to be even more focused.”
