Conte: "We had a lot of chances and could have been more clinical in front of goal"

The Nerazzurri Coach following Inter's draw against Roma at San Siro: "The lads gave everything, just a goal was missing"

MILAN – Despite creating a number of opportunities, Antonio Conte’s men were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw in their Friday night clash against Roma on matchday 15 in Serie A. This is what the Nerazzurri Coach had to say after the game: “If we look at the match, Mirante was the best player on the park. We didn’t risk conceding against an excellent side in Roma. The lads gave everything but we weren’t able to score. We had the right opportunities to do so and could have been more ruthless in front of goal. However, I can’t rebuke the lads because they left it all out there on the pitch.

“We need to try to arrive at the Christmas break in the best way possible. We know that there are some difficulties to overcome but these lads are responding in a big way. Our fans need to continue to support us because we need to remain united and make the most out of the situation. We need everyone’s help and maximum support needs to be given to these guys.”

Finally, on the chances created thanks to high pressing: “When you decide to press high, there are positive and negative consequences. If you win the ball back, you’re already very close to the goal but obviously it’s a job that’s very tiring. Furthermore, when they break the first press, the opponents have space. Today, the guys did well and we created some big chances but unfortunately we couldn’t take them. In these matches, individual episodes are key in changing the balance.”
