#DerbyMilano match preview

MILAN – Antonio Conte’s Inter are currently putting in the finishing touches before heading into the 172nd#DerbyMilano in Serie A history. Kick-off is set for 20:45 CET on Sunday evening, with Inter facing AC Milan at home on matchday 23 in the league.

Second-half goals

Eleven of the last twelve goals in Serie A clashes between Inter and AC Milan have come in the second halves of games; the one exception being Vecino’s goal in the 3rd minute of the second Derby last season.

85 Derbies have been played at San Siro with Inter as the home side. The Nerazzurri have won 32 of those games compared to AC Milan’s 23 victories, with 30 draws completing the record. In their last 14 meetings, Inter have won ten, drawn three and lost on just the one occasion. Inter have also won four of their last six home Derbies in Serie A, keeping clean sheets on four of these occasions.

Clean sheets and headed goals

The upcoming Sunday evening clash will see two of the three sides who have kept the most clean sheets this Serie A season face off: along with Verona, both have kept the opposition out on eight occasions. Inter have scored eight headers so far this season, more than any other side. On the other hand, Milan are the team to have scored the least in this regard (just one).

Derbies are very big matches and the fixture between the two Milan sides is an important one, but we need to remain focused on the game because winning it would mean picking up three points.”
