MILAN - Making his mark with a header that showed both great timing and effortless skill, Danilo D’Ambrosio is certainly no stranger to putting his name on the scoresheet. Along with Leonardo Bonucci, tonight he became one of just two defenders to have scored at least twice in each of the last five Serie A seasons.
In his post-match interview with Inter TV, our Nerazzurri defender gave his account of the victory over Brescia: “It’s always a pleasure to score goals, but with the amount we scored tonight the important thing was to keep a clean sheet. We’re really happy to have scored so many, but we’re also happy not to have let any in, because in recent games we’ve been conceding too many.”
A lot of players were involved in our offensive manoeuvres and got on the scoresheet this evening: “The Coach is always looking for input from the wide players. We never drop our tempo, we work hard to win the ball high up the pitch and we work hard to get results. Our mentality has changed: the Coach has brought us a big mentality on working together as a collective. We were disappointed not to get to the final of the Coppa Italia and with the draw against Sassuolo, but we haven’t let our heads drop, because we want to get back to winning ways. The Coach doesn’t cut us any slack because he knows that we’re capable of achieving so much.
“We’ve been finding the goal a lot because we’re team that’s always looking to recover the ball and keep the pressure up. We’re proactive, we’re a quality team, but that takes a lot of effort to achieve.”
