The best facts and figures from the Nerazzurri's 3-0 win at the Ferraris

MILAN – Thanks to their win over Genoa, Inter reclaimed second place in the league. In collaboration with Opta, here’s a closer analysis of the 3-0 victory from a statistical point of view.

TWELFTH AWAY WIN For the second time in their history, Inter have managed to win at least twelve times on the road during a single Serie A campaign: the last time they achieved this was during the 2006/07 season (15 wins). The Nerazzurri have picked up 40 points away from San Siro, with their away record reading as follows: twelve wins, four draws and two defeats.

Whenever Inter have had at least 76 points after 36 games in the three points per win era, they’ve always finished the season in the top two.

DOUBLE OVER GENOA Inter beat Genoa 4-0 in the reverse fixture and 3-0 in the return match between the sides, making the Nerazzurri the only team that Genoa haven’t scored against in the past two Serie A seasons. Thanks to their victory yesterday, Inter secured their second successive success at Genoa’s home ground for the first time since December 2011 in Serie A, a winning run that would last for four matches.

Inter scored yet another header at the Ferraris: Antonio Conte’s men have now found the net 19 times in this manner since the Serie A season began. Since Opta started collecting data (2004/05), the Nerazzurri have never scored so many headers during a single league campaign.

LUKAKU ONLY BEHIND NYERS AND RONALDOLukaku has now scored 29 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions this season. It’s the Belgian striker’s best tally in a single campaign: prior to this, his best season came during his first year at Manchester Uinted, when he bagged 27 goals. Furthermore, the two goals he netted against Genoa means that he is now third in the all-time goalscoring charts for an Inter player in their debut season in Serie A: only Istvan Nyers (26 goals in 1948/49) and Ronaldo (1997/98) are ahead of him in this respect. He’s also equalled the record for the number of away goals scored by a Nerazzurri player in a single season: 15, the tally that Nyers achieved in 1949/50.

ALEXIS, A DECISIVE CONTRIBUTION Alexis Sánchez has been involved in at least one goal for three successive away matches in Serie A for the first time since January 2011. In general, the last time he achieved the same feat was in January 2017, when he was on Arsenal’s books.

Since the restart, only Ronaldo (eleven) has contributed to more goals than Sánchez (ten – three goals, seven assists) out of all the attackers in the Italian top flight.
