MILAN – Giuseppe Marotta was Inter's representative at the ceremony to reveal the Serie A fixture list for the 2021/22 season on Wednesday.
This is what the Nerazzurri CEO Sport had to say: “At the start of the season there are always some teams who are considered as favourites. Unlike shorter competitions such as the Champions League, the domestic league tends to be won by the best team, although sometimes there can be outsiders too. You must show every team the same respect and go into each match with the right mindset and determination.
"It's not until you reach the midway point of the season that you start to get a better idea of who the potential title contenders are.
“We're the reigning champions and we're ready for the next challenge. You must always look forward in football.”
Marotta also commented on Christian Eriksen's situation and the signing of Hakan Calhanoglu.
“We're really happy for Christian because his health is improving and that's the most important thing. We hope he'll be able to play again but we'll need patience and time to understand if that's the case. The main thing is he can return to normality in his everyday life.
“Calhanoglu was a transfer opportunity that arose. It certainly wasn't done to spite AC Milan. With the way football is at the moment, something similar could happen the other way round too.”
