Nicolo Barella is the Lenovo Player of the Month for September. The midfielder turned in six impressive performances throughout the month, racking up one goal and three assists.
Barella kicked off September with a stunning assist for Lautaro Martinez in the 2-2 stalemate with Sampdoria, which he followed up with a tap-in to open his account for the season at home to Bologna. The 24-year-old went on to set up Matteo Darmian away to Fiorentina and Lautaro against Atalanta at San Siro. The width of the bar prevented the midfielder from adding another goal to his tally when his curling shot struck the woodwork in Kyiv against Shakhtar in the Champions League.
BARELLA’S FIGURES IN SERIE A
The midfielder has racked up 596 minutes in Serie A in seven games so far, kicking off the campaign at a very fast pace. Barella’s defensive contribution is also worth highlighting, given that his successful tackle rate stands at 92%, while he has come out on top in 55% of duels.
The maestro has completed 84.3% of his passes in the early throes of the season, registering five assists and 16 key passes. His only goal from his seven efforts on target to date came in the dismantling of Bologna.
Barella is top of the assist charts in Serie A and third among players in the top five European leagues. Only Paul Pogba and Karim Benzema have provided more assists so far this season, with seven apiece.
