Previous Roma v Inter meetings

The record in previous games between these two sides in the capital stands at 37 Roma wins, 22 draws and 29 Inter victories.

Zeman v Stramaccioni

Zdenek Zeman and Andrea Stramaccioni will sit in opposite dugouts for the second time this evening: their only previous meeting came when Roma left San Siro with a 3-1 win on 2 September earlier this season.

Zeman's poor record against Inter

Zeman's overall record against the Nerazzurri is not particularly good. The current Giallorossi coach has crossed paths with Inter 23 times while in charge of various clubs but has had just three wins, as well as nine draws and 11 defeats.

Daniele Orsato to officiate

The referee for tonight's Week 21 fixture is Daniele Orsato, from the Schio section. He has taken charge of 12 Roma matches before today (W5, D4, L3 the Giallorossi's results) and 17 Inter games (W11, D3, L3).

No scoreless draws for either side in 2012/13

Inter and Roma are the only two teams who have not played out a goalless stalemate in the 2012/13 Serie A campaign so far. The Nerazzurri's last 0-0 came 25 league games ago, away to Fiorentina on 22 April 2012.

All or nothing for Roma and Inter in 2012/13

Inter and Roma are two of the three sides (along with Pescara) to have drawn the fewest games this season - just two each.

Nine months since last away draw for Inter

Inter have not drawn any of their last 18 Serie A encounters away from Milan. They have won 11 times and lost seven since the 0-0 in Florence in the 2011/12 season. Inter are one of four teams yet to share the spoils in an away fixture this term – the others are Bologna, Chievo Verona and Roma.

Stramaccioni returns to the Olimpico as an ex

Andrea Stramaccioni is facing his former club for the second time since moving up north from the capital, having spent five years in the Giallorossi youth academy from 2005/06 to 2010/11. Today will be his first time at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma.

ROME – The challenge at the Stadio Olimpico – the first of two over a four-day period between the teams – ended as a 1-1 draw.

It began as an uphill battle for the Nerazzurri’s defence as the chances fell to the Giallorossi. On 22 minutes Roma took the lead thanks to a spot kick from Totti for a penalty that was unjustly awarded when Bradley looked to make contact with a sliding Ranocchia. Roma continued to pose a threat while Inter sought to fight back. On 37 minutes Livaja’s volley rattled the post after his elegant control. The Nerazzurri came back to life and in the one minute of injury time bagged the equaliser: Guarin shot, recovered his rebound in the box and then slipped the ball to Palacio to side-foot into the net.

At the start of the second half Osvaldo wasted a golden opportunity when his poor touch gave the ball to Handanovic, who then made a miraculous save to deny Totti. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper kept the door locked when Piris came knocking moments later. Both teams were pursuing the goal worth the three points, and Handanovic turned away a wicked shot from Lamela in the 84th minute. The match ended 1-1, leaving Inter with 39 points in the standings.
