Santaro's penalty wins it for the Rosanero at the Stadio Breda. The Nerazzurri finish in second place and qualify directly for the Final Four

SESTO SAN GIOVANNI – On the final day of the regular season, Palermo defeated Inter at the Stadio Breda in Primavera 1 TIM. Santoro’s penalty in the 22nd minute was the goal that decided the match. For Inter, who missed their own spot-kick in the first half through Schirò, the objective will be to recover physically and mentally ahead of the Final Four. The Nerazzurri’s Under-19 side will take to the pitch again on 11 June for the Scudetto semi-finals.

After a minute’s silence commemorating Maicol Lentini, a former Elite Academy player who sadly passed away recently at just 15 years of age, Inter vs. Palermo kicked off at the Stadio Breda. Armando Madonna’s side, who had already secured their place in the Primavera 1 TIM Final Four, went close through Gavioli early on. However, in the 22nd minute, Palermo took the lead: Santoro converted from the penalty spot after Grassini was penalised for a foul on Lucera in the box. Inter were then awarded their own spot-kick after 34 minutes, but Schirò shot wide. Other than that, there weren’t a lot of chances and the first half ended with a 0-1 scoreline.

Inter spent the entirety of the second 45 camped in the opposition’s half, yet struggled to truly threaten Avogadri. As the game entered its latter stages, Esposito was the Nerazzurri’s biggest danger going forward but the hosts failed to bag an equaliser. The final whistle was eventually blown with Palermo holding on to their 1-0 win. The Nerazzurri have finished their league campaign in second place on 56 points.
