UCL, Handanovic: “We have to prove that we're stronger now”

The Nerazzurri goalkeeper's words in the press conference: "Tomorrow will be a tough and exciting match"

APPIANO GENTILE – The day before the beginning of this season’s UEFA Champions League campaign, Samir Handanovic spoke to Inter TV in the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Slavia Prague: "We have to prepare well for this match against a tough team, it will be an exciting challenge for us but our opponents will feel exactly the same. The fact that we’ve got off to a good start in the league is also important, because it gives recognition to the work we're doing and allows us to best keep moving forward.”

About the match and the emotions of the UEFA Champions League: "If I didn't get excited, I wouldn't play football anymore. Of course I get excited, they’re big games and even just hearing the music of the Champions League brings out unique emotions. Tomorrow I expect a tough, experienced team. I watched them last year, no doubt if they arrive looking to play, it will be a good match, hopefully good for us.”

Finally, a word on the next commitments: "We have a match every three days up until 6 October. We’ll have to keep our heads, recover well and get ready to play each next game straight away, so it will be important to focus on one game at a time. I think that over the last three years Inter have strengthened year after year. Now we’ve changed a lot as a team, we need to keep working and improve even further. We might be better than the last few years on paper, but we have to prove it every three days when we set foot on the pitch. Then, at the end of it all, the results will do the talking and we’ll see where we end up.”
