MILAN - We’re back at San Siro on Tuesday for a visit from Maran’s Cagliari, the match to decide which team progresses to the Coppa Italia quarter-final kicking off at 20:45 CET on Tuesday. Check out all of the best numbers and statistics ahead of the Coppa Italia clash, compiled in collaboration with Opta.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN THE TWO

Tuesday will be our ninth meeting with Cagliari in the Coppa Italia. Inter are unbeaten in seven of their last eight, with five wins, two draws and one defeat, having scored 32 goals (an average of four per game). The Nerazzurri have scored in 41 of their last 42 games against Cagliari in all competitions: 84 goals in this period and an average of exactly two per game.

CURRENT FORM

Inter arrive at this cup match having kicked off their year with a win over Napoli and a draw against Atalanta. The side from Sardinia qualified for the round of 16 with a win over Sampdoria, but have lost all four of their last four games in Serie A after going unbeaten in the previous 13 in the competition (8W, 5D).

From 2008/09 onwards, Inter have managed to progress through their knockout match in this round ten times out of eleven (including a 3-0 win over Cagliari in 2015): the one exception coming in 2014 against Udinese.

GENERAL STATISTICS

Inter have been in the lead during games for longer than any other side this Serie A season (917 minutes), trailing their opposition for just 107 minutes all season.

Cagliari and Inter have both only conceded one header in the league this season, the lowest figure for any team in Serie A 2019/20 - they are also the two teams to have scored the most headers (seven each).

Cagliari’s four goals in their current Coppa Italia run have all come from different scorers: João Pedro, Rog, Cerri and Ragatzu. What’s more, three of the four goals scored by the Sardinians in this Coppa Italia arrived in the first 20 minutes of games.

PLAYER FOCUS

Lautaro Martínez has scored three goals in three games against Cagliari in a Nerazzurri shirt: one goal a game, including his first ever goal in the Italian top flight (back in September 2018). Gagliardini also opened his Serie A account for Inter against Cagliari with his goal back in March 2017.

Nicolò Barella is among the list of those to have played for both sides, having made 100 Serie A appearances for Cagliari and scored seven goals. Matías Vecino played nine games for Cagliari, scoring twice including his first Serie A goal which came against Udinese at the Stadio Sant’Elia in March 2014.

Radja Nainggolan also played for both sides, making 36 appearances in all competitions for Inter last season and scoring seven goals in total.

Antonio Candreva has been involved in five goals against Cagliari in Serie A (three goals and two assists); all three of his goals coming from the penalty spot.

COACHES

Antonio Conte has faced Cagliari in Serie A on eight occasions, his record standing at five wins, two draws and just one defeat which came in his first encounter with the Sardinians.

Rolando Maran has come up against Inter 15 times in Serie A, losing eleven of these encounters (2W, 2D).
