Football at the heart of everything, which music psyches him up and his Nerazzurri idols. Five anecdotes and facts from our Nerazzurri frontman

MILAN – Football comes first. For Lukaku football is passion, concentration, generosity and life. It’s his memory of matches that allowed him to fall in love with the game, just like that night in Paris 22 years ago: the goals from Zamorano and Zanetti, those dancing feet from Ronaldo. It’s the work he puts in each day on the pitch, and his footballing idols who he strives to match. Generous and powerful, our Belgian has immediately won over the fans with his goals, his hard-working nature and his humility. His is an intense story, full of anecdotes and facts, all of which Lukaku spoke about in an exclusive interview for our Matchday Programme.

HIS NERAZZURRI IDOLS

“I have two football idols that I’d like to meet: Ronaldo and Adriano. If I were ever to talk to them, it would be something so exciting and huge for me. I don’t know if I’ll manage even part of what they gave to Inter, but my goal is to work hard, improve and do my best for these colours.”THE 4-0 IN THE #DERBYMILANO BACK IN 2009

“I’ll never forget Inter’s 4-0 win in the Derby back in 2009. I had just become a professional footballer and I watched the match, it wasSneijder’s debut. I was so impressed by Eto’o and Milito, but above all I remember Thiago Motta’s wonderful goal.”

TUPAC, JAY-Z AND 50 CENT

“Before games I need something to psych me up, I need something intense. That’s why I go with Tupac, Jay-Z and 50 Cent. It’s old stuff now, but it’s just right for me.”

FOOTBALL COMES FIRST

“I watch a lot of games on TV when I’m at home, I enjoy them but I also learn a lot about my opponents by studying their movements.”

THE RECIPE FOR GIVING YOUR ALL

“I don’t feel pressure, even before big games. I don’t look at social media, I don’t listen to anyone. I concentrate: I think about my training and the games themselves. I have just one recipe: rest well and train better. The rest comes as a consequence.”
