Facts and statistics on the first eight legends to line the Club’s Hall of Fame


MILAN - Today our special Inter Quiz on the Hall of Fame put Nerazzurri fans to the test on the first eight winners from the last two editions. Let’s take a trip back down memory lane to look at some facts and statistics on these Nerazzurri greats.

1 - Out of these three players, who is the only one to have played more Serie A games than Walter Zenga in an Inter shirt?

Walter Zenga was the first goalkeeper to enter the Nerazzurri Hall of Fame, “Spider-Man” earning a spot in Inter’s Top 10 most Serie A appearances since the tournament took on a round-robin format with 328 games played. Of the three players mentioned (Burgnich, Cordoba and Altobelli), only the first played more Serie A games than Walter Zenga in an Inter shirt (358).

AHall of Famer since the first edition, Lothar Matthäus boasts the most appearances at the final phase of the World Cup (25), followed closely by Miroslav Klose (24) and Paolo Maldini (23). Here are the only players to have made more than 20 appearances at the tournament phase of the World Cup:

3 - Ronaldo only scored one Serie A hat-trick in his career. Who did it come against?

Ronaldo “El Fenomeno” was the first forward to enter the Hall of Fame. His only Serie A hat-trick was scored against Lecce on 15 February 1998, with Milanese and Cauet also scoring to make it 5-0 on the day.

4 - Against which team did Francesco Toldo save his final penalty in Serie A?

Francesco Toldo made his last Serie A penalty save on 6 May 2007 against Messina, our legendary keeper successfully keeping Arturo Di Napoli’s effort out of the net.

5 – In that famous 1964/65 European Cup won by Inter, Giacinto Facchetti scored his first goal in the competition. Who were our opponents that day?

Giacinto Facchetti scored his first goal in the European Cup in the 1964/65 edition of the tournament, the goal coming in a historic semi-final second leg against Liverpool on 12 May 1965. He would go on to score five goals in the competition in total.

6 - Giuseppe Meazza ranks fourth in the all-time list of Serie A top scorers with 216 goals, level with which player from the Italian league?

With 216 goals scored, Giuseppe Meazza, a Nerazzurri legend who entered into the Inter Hall of Fame in the 2019 edition of the voting, makes it into fourth place of the all-time top scorers in Serie A, level with Altafini.

7 - Who was Inter’s coach when Javier Zanetti made his Serie A debut back in August 1995?

Javier Zanetti made his Serie A debut against Vicenza on 27 August 1995. The man in charge of Inter that day? Ottavio Bianchi.

8 - Dejan Stankovic’s most prolific season for Inter in Serie A came in the 2006/07 season. Just how many league goals did he score that year?

Dejan Stankovic finished the 2006/07 seasonwith 6 goals in Serie A: the first came against Chievo, followed by two against Catania, a goal in the #DerbyMilano and two more against Fiorentina and Empoli. This beat his total of five in the 2008/09 and 2010/11 seasons.
