When you think of the number 10 role, you think of players who are like poets on the pitch. When you look back on the history of Italy’s number 10s, you can’t help but turn your thoughts to Roberto Baggio. Magic nights, shining despite the scorching American heat, and winning the Ballon D’Or. Or, simply his distinctive hairstyles: the mullet, and the ponytail. Italian football fans all fell in love with Roberto Baggio, and he wasn’t only popular in Italy. His class transcended international borders, he played for teams across Italy, dazzling fans, especially when it came to serving his country.

In 1998 he added black to the blue that had served him so well, joining Inter. Roberto Baggio joined the Nerazzurri when Ronaldo, O Fenômeno, was at the Club, and if it hadn’t been for a number of injuries, they would have been a sensational partnership. Just after arriving from Bologna, Baggio scored 17 goals in 59 matches for the Nerazzurri. The goals which have stuck with Inter fans are the two braces against Real Madrid, in the Champions League and against Parma in the Champions League tie-breaker against Parma.
