The Nerazzurri Coach after Spezia 1-1 Inter: "We're disappointed with the draw, but I can't criticise the lads"

LA SPEZIA - Inter were denied all three points despite a dominant display at the Picco on Wednesday, with the match ending 1-1 after goals from Farias and Perisic. The result was regardless of the Nerazzurri’s countless chances away from home, with the team also hitting the woodwork twice and having two goals disallowed.

This is what the Nerazzurri Coach had to say after the game:

How important is this point? Is the pressure mounting as you approach your objective?

“It’s inevitable to feel a bit of pressure, especially as lots of our players are challenging for something important for the first time. However, they are doing well. Today, we played with great intensity and no one could have said anything had we secured all three points. We’re only discussing the draw because we lacked a bit of quality in front of goal, but the match was played in the right manner. It’s OK, the performance was there. We must live with the pressure. Now, given the energy we've spent, we need recover and prepare for our match against Verona.”

It was a tough game, but Inter stayed true to their ideas of how to play…

“I really have little to complain about regarding the team. There was real desire and determination. We had some situations where we should have done better. You saw a bit of nervousness after their goal, but the lads must remain calm and keep doing what they’ve done up until today. It’s obviously a shame as we deserved all three points, we were also unlucky at times. We’ll keep progressing on our path with great desire and enthusiasm.”

Inter seem to be growing game by game while also maintaining a clear identity…

“Absolutely, we have our identity. We’re an orchestra that knows what to play. We’ll head home with a bit of regret over missing out on three points but happy with our performance. We tried everything without losing our balance, and unexpected slip-ups can happen in such games.”
